Hi, I recently bought the Bern Brentwood snowboard helmet after already owning the Baker model. When I went out riding in Austria today I figured I would give my new helmet a try. It fit great and is very lightweight. I took it to the park and jumped some kickers and on the last one I lost my grip and slammed down into the ground head first. I got up and checked to make sure I was ok. I soon checked my new helmet and saw that it took all the impact instead of my head. I attached (a picture) of what the helmet looked like after I fell. I still cant believe that I don't even have a concussion. From now on I will only wear Bern to protect my skull. Keep up the good…

Hi. Just wanted to say thanks to your entire team for such an awesome helmet. My son was hit by a car at 35 MPH while riding his bike in a crosswalk -- and his Bern helmet saved him from major head trauma. The helmet only has a few scratches - of course the bike is totalled. Luckily my son is recovering enough so that he can ride a bike again soon - but of course we will buy another Bern helmet before we set…

Bern, Just wanted to say thanks. Over the past weekend I took a body/Head slam that should have landed me a spot in the E.R. Fortunately I missed that opportunity thanks to the helmet I was wearing. I've worn other brands of helmets, taken some good blows and left the mountain due to severe headaches. I'm 39 years old and until this past weekend, I've never hit the ground that hard in my life. I saw black for a few seconds, slid to a stop, did a quick assessment,  got up and rode the rest of the day almost like it never happened. Two of the friends I was with are paramedic/ firefighters, the 3rd a pro level rider, they all said they can't believe I walked away from that, much less rode out the rest of the day. I still can't believe my…

My name is Katie and I want to share a little story about my winter so far. I’ve been snowboarding for 4 years now, and just this year I decided it would be a really good idea to get a helmet- maybe that’s the idea of the mature grown-up in me since I just turned 21 in the fall. I did a few months worth of searching online and found the perfect bern helmet that promised to keep me safe both boarding and biking. I went out boarding before I got helmet in my hometown over winter break, and everything went smoothly as usual, so I wasn’t thrilled to have to wear the helmet once I got it for a Christmas present from my mom. When I got back home, a couple of my friends and I decided to go out on a day there was a cheap deal at the local hill. I figured I wouldn’t need the helmet, but the more responsible person in me decided to wear it. So there we are, my two guy friends being all gutsy and snowing off their skills in the terrain park, while I carved by doing nothing impressive. Watching them, it looked easy, so eventually I worked up my nerve to hit the easiest thing in the park; a simple box. My nerves got the best of me, but it was an exhilarating feeling, and I HAD to prove to the boys that I wasn’t a woos. As soon as I got up close, I felt myself  lose balance, and halfway across the box, I slipped backwards, and the next thing I knew, I opened my eyes and couldn’t remember where I was for a minute! My head hurt quite a bit, and I…

Dear Bern, I wanted to thank you for making not only the best looking helmets, but a tremendously sturdy product.  I was struck by a vehicle in Boston a few weeks ago, and my Berkeley helmet has only a few scratches on it... hard to believe when you look at the car's smashed windshield with the helmet imprinted on it.  You have earned my brand…

Just wanted to thank you guys for the quality lids. I was biking at the skatepark today and went down really hard--hard enough to end up in the ER. Although it still hurt the noggin, I can't imagine what it would've been like without the helmet. Do guys have recommendations for repeated use after impact or anything like that? I don't see any cracks or dents, but you never know. Thanks again, (Formerly the old guy at the skate park. Now, the old guy that slammed at the skate…

I just wanted to reach out and say thank you. I am an avid cyclist in Boston, Massachusetts and wear a Bern helmet. I was in a very serious accident several weeks ago sustaining severe neck, back and shoulder injuries and have been restricted to laying down since. I am starting to recover and regain control of my body and am expected to make a full recovery. With out going into too much detail I just wanted to let you know that quite possibly the only reason my accident wasn't fatal is because I was wearing a Bern helmet.  So, again, thank…

I'd like to send a sincere thanks to your company.  Yesterday, your helmet saved my life. I was biking to work, zipping through the streets of Minneapolis like I usually do, ducking cars and buses as the traffic conditions demand.  (Starting work during rush hour is no fun at all, but getting there is quite the rush!)  I pulled out into an intersection, and completely missed seeing an oncoming car.  The car and I were both going about 20 mph, and I got T-boned.  From what I recall, I flew across the intersection and bounced off another car and ended up skidding over to the curb on my head and hands.  I'm now covered in road rash, as well as probably have a torn ligament in my knee as well (how I didn't break anything is a miracle.)  When the medics took my helmet off, it was completely skidded, and if it weren't for the visor, my face would have been as well. So thanks guys, for saving my face, my brains, and my life!  I'm sure gonna grab another Watts as soon as my knee's feeling…

I am not sure what the outcome of my email will be, but for whatever it's worth, I believe it's important for me to contact you.  You see I was involved in a pretty horrific and devastating bicycle crash on June 1st in downtown Denver, Colorado.  A ridiculous automobile and I tried to occupy the same space at the same time and well, I believe it was Newton who taught us that can't happen...not in this dimension.   Were it not for my Bern helmet, my life and those who love me lives would have been altered forever.  Bones mend, lungs heal, flesh resurfaces, brains tend to just say f@#$ this, I'm out.  Since I have a brain and the capacity to still use it because of your product, I thought I should share my story and see if I can't do more to help Bern and all those out there who live for riding, in whatever form, on whatever piece of metal, wood or plastic, to continue to do so even after a nearly fatal crash.  If you will entertain me further, I will tell you the full story.  May 20th some drunken bozo ran me over on my bike in downtown Denver.  I wasn't wearing a helmet and luckily I was not injured but my bike was destroyed.  Chalk it up to ninja training, yoga balance, and just plain Vegas style luck.  June 1st I went in to my local bike shop and picked up my brand spanking new bicycle, a 2010 Jamis Beatnik...a true speed demon, a beauty to be adored, my first 'new' bike I've owned since that one Santa…

A dear family friend was involved in a car accident recently, if it had not been for the fact that he was wearing his new Bern Hard Hat so he could listen to his ipod we are told he most likely would have died in the wreak.  As if is he suffered a broken hip, vertabras, nose and arm w/ over 100 stiches on his face.  Has gone through 2 surgeries to rebuild his arm and hip. Thank you for a great product and helping save our…

I wanted to express my gratitude to everyone at your company because your brentwood helmet probably saved my life this week.  I was hit by a taxi while riding to work, went over the cab, and landed head first on asphalt.  I'm a bit banged up elsewhere, but my head is fine.  Not even a concussion.  The outside of the helmet mostly held up but on closer inspection, the helmet took most of the impact, cracking halfway up on the interior.  I bought it because I liked the way it looked but swear by it because of how it performed.  Thank…

Hi, I am a mother of a fifteen year old who was spared any brain damage due to the Bern helmet he was wearing this week.  He has always worn a helmet since he was first put on skies at age two.  This past Christmas I purchased a new helmet from your company for him as he had been looking online and liked yours the best.  This past Monday we were on day two of our school vacation ski trip at Brettonwoods New Hampshire.  My son took a fall while checking on a another snowboarder who had dumped in front of him. Neither snowboarder was going fast or out of control.  When my husband and I arrived on the scene,( luckily we skied down the same trail out of 100 or so that Brettonwoods has)- we came up on my son and quickly realized he had a head injury. He was taking by rescue to the closest hospital and then med flighted to the nearest trauma unit on a respirator.  The helmet saved his life and his brain.  He has a fractured skull but no long term damage.  He was one of four teenagers that were brought in to the trauma center that afternoon all with head injuries due to skiing or snowboarding.  All the doctors said the helmet was the saving grace for my son.  I will promote helmet safety for the rest of my life.  I wanted to be sure to contact your company and pass along that because of your product my son will continue to be a healthy strong young…

Bern Team, I wanted to thank you all for making a quality product. I lawndarted off of a 30 foot park jump directly onto my head yesterday while attempting my cracked out version of a Misty Flip (I'm a snowboarder, and I rock a Bern Macon), and I'm fairly positive it would have been significantly less pleasant without it. As I write this, I am nursing a fractured vertebra and have some pretty serious muscle spasms going on in my back, but my head and neck are as good as new. Thanks for keeping the skull safe for me. I'm a supporter of your goods for life. Any tips on getting that Misty around will be greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work - the reckless snowboarders of the world depend on it.…
